Tech Tip: InfraWorks and Bridge Design

How to get good visibility and focus on particular bridge elements.

Autodesk InfraWorks includes bridge design tools which are dynamically linked to your road designs and reference Australian design standards.  Creating bridges is easy with grip control over start/end, pier locations/orientation, girder design and more.

When analysing bridges in InfraWorks, however, it can be challenging to get good visibility and focus on particular elements such as the bridge girders, because the bridge deck and road pavement are in the way.

If you select a bridge in InfraWorks and then right-click, you will see a tick box and expanding arrow for ‘Component Display’. Expand this and you will see the options to hide or display the various components of the bridge, as seen below.

When the bridge is not selected, it will display everything. When you click on it to edit, you will only see the components you have ticked and chosen to display.
