Autodesk® InfraWorks conceptual design software is designed to help civil engineering, transportation, and urban planning professionals create, evaluate, and communicate infrastructure proposals. Autodesk Infraworks can help drive stakeholder buy-in and inform decision making with visually rich proposals for transportation, land, water, or energy infrastructure projects. And users can share proposed infrastructure models to give designers a head start.

This is a small development by Infraworks standards, and is very fast to build up from scratch. Once you have added your information, you can analyse the data with dynamic shadow casting, lines of site checks and more. Outputs to video are extremely fast and simple to do - the video is a great example of the outputs you can expect.
Mt Hotham Resort - Incorporating Detailed Design
This video shows an unedited output from Infraworks for a major pipeline development at the Mt Hotham Ski Resort, Mt Hotham, Victoria
This model represents the full extents of the Mt Hotham resort, with the original surface coming from Point Cloud data and an image file (.ecw)
The focus of this development is in one of the main valley floors of the resort. One of the major underground pipelines requires redesign and upgrade.
The pipelines were designed using Civil 3D, with the new weir inlet structure coming from Autodesk Inventor.
Additionally, the conceptual building tools were used to quickly represent the original structures in the valley area, and a Sketchup model was incorporated to represent the ski lift. Infraworks was used to sketch in the water that will sit behind the weir.
The great news is that this is an interactive model - with Infraworks you can develop proposals and within a proposal can test new and different developments over the site. This single model will be used in the future to show the resort management board new and proposed works.
An Infraworks Introduction - Building Up a Municipality
Thank you to the City of Belmont in Western Australia for sharing with us their geospatial data and challenging us to show them how to visualise their existing infrastructure and communicate with their community using Autodesk® Infrastructure Modeler. On top of accurately representing their existing infrastructure the engineers, planners and GIS departments needed to be able to quickly evaluate multiple conceptual design options, analyse and assess the impacts to surrounding residents (shadow casting, visual impact) and communicate their design intent to the broader community.
